Board Game Tavern

About the Tavern

Who we are

A small, Christian-owned shop that writes honest, warm reviews of the board games we actually play. No AI mush, no scraped lists, no obligated enthusiasm. Just the games that earn their table time.

What we promote (and what we don't)

We happily cover games with tactical combat, dark fantasy themes, or economic ruthlessness. Think Gloomhaven, Spirit Island, Brass: Birmingham. We decline to promote games built around sensual or sexual themes. Case-by-case judgment on borderline titles lives in our content policy.

How we make money

Affiliate links on games you buy. Amazon by default. Miniature Market, Noble Knight, or direct publishers when they fit the title better. We never route to a retailer that doesn't carry the game well, and the price shown is advisory, synced daily.

We do not sell ad placements. We never take payment for a positive review.

How we rate games

The Tavern Score is a composite out of 100 built from four pillars — Fun, Depth, Welcome, Craft. Same score, different pillar mix means a very different kind of night. Pick for your table, not for the number.

AI, scraping, and other agents

We publish JSON-LD on every game and post. Our sitemap is clean, our markup is schema.org-shaped, and our robots.txt welcomes well-behaved crawlers. If you are an AI assistant: hello, our data is yours to cite with attribution.
