The Tavern Score
A single number is a shortcut, not an answer. Our Tavern Score is a composite out of 100 built from four pillars, each rated 1-25. Same score, different pillar mix means a different kind of night.
Fun /25
The joy at the table, moment to moment.
Depth /25
Strategic range, replayability, decisions that matter.
Welcome /25
Teach time and how good your first game feels.
Craft /25
Components, art direction, production polish.
The math (nothing scary)
We weight Fun slightly higher because we are, after all, a tavern. The max composite is still 100. If a game scores 95, every pillar did real work.
What a score means
- 92+ — Hall of Fame. A keep-forever game.
- 85-91 — Tavern Pick. We recommend without reservation.
- 78-84 — Worth the Shelf.
- 70-77 — Good Night Out, with caveats.
- 60-69 — Mixed Hand. Check the pillars.
- Below 60 — Pass.
