Akropolis
Build a Greek city upward, then fret over the tiles you just buried.
What it is
A fun game for 2 to 4 people, perfect for a family table that likes a quick puzzle. You take three-hex tiles from a shared market, where the front tile is free and each one further back costs a stone. Tiles can stack, but anything you cover stops scoring. It won the As d'Or in 2023.
What we love
- The market charges a stone for every tile you skip, so greed has a price.
- Each district color scores in its own way, multiplied by matching plaza stars.
- Covering an old tile can still be the right move, which is the whole tension.
Honest trade-offs
- Play is close to simultaneous solitaire, with light interaction in the draft.
- The box shows the player count as 2/4, which can look like it skips three. It does not.
