· OUR TAKE ·

What it is

A follow up in spirit to Orléans, set in the Andean highlands. You draw tiles from a cloth bag, program them on your board, then move around a ring of locations turning wool, cacao, silver and fish into better things. Goods stored in your warehouse score at the end. A good match for anyone who likes to watch a bag get smarter.

What we love

  • Everyone plans at the same time, then actions run in turn order.
  • Each player starts with a different role tile, which sets starting goods and an extra action.
  • Your cart moves three spaces free, and extra steps cost food, so where you stand matters.

Honest trade-offs

  • Length is the main complaint: one reviewer's first four player game ran over 4.5 hours.
  • Orléans is in our catalogue too, and owning both may be more bag than you need.
