Azul: Summer Pavilion
Azul's tile drafting with a new wild color every round.
What it is
Draft diamond tiles from the factories as in Azul, then spend them to fill seven stars on your board. Over six rounds each color takes a turn as wild, and tiles you cannot use cost you points. Michael Kiesling's third Azul arrived from Next Move Games in 2019. Best for anyone who likes the original and wants more to plan.
What we love
- The changing wild color means last round's plan rarely carries over
- Surrounding a pillar, statue or window earns bonus tiles, which rewards linked turns
- You may keep up to four tiles between rounds, so planning ahead pays
Honest trade-offs
- Scoring paths take a game or two to read
- Harder to explain than the original Azul
