· OUR TAKE ·

What it is

A fun game for 1 to 8 people, perfect for a big group that does not want a word game. Over seven rounds you swap opponents, play a five-minute duel on a neoprene mat, and draft better cards into your deck. Duels mostly run themselves as you flip cards until one side's total beats the other. It won the Kennerspiel des Jahres in 2023.

What we love

  • It takes about 45 minutes however many people join.
  • Taking five cards and keeping two is where your decisions live.
  • The top two players meet in a final with the decks they built.

Honest trade-offs

  • Duels are largely luck, with few choices once they start.
  • Players who want full control may feel the result is set before the first flip.
