What it is

A classic-feeling race game, perfect for families who like Sorry! but want a partner to blame. It plays as two teams of two, sitting opposite each other, and cards move your four pieces around the track instead of dice. Partners swap one card face down each round, but may not discuss their hands. Once one partner is home they keep playing to bring in the other's pieces, because a team only wins when all eight are safe.

What we love

  • Real 2v2 play, with three teams of two at six players
  • A 7 can be split across pieces and sends anyone it passes back to the start, your own pieces included
  • Hand sizes shrink from six cards to two, then reset

Honest trade-offs

  • With 2, 3 or 5 players there are no teams and the rules change
  • Partners may not talk about their cards at all, which takes some discipline
  • A related Swiss game, Brändi Dog, comes from a different maker with a wooden board and plain playing cards, so check which box you are buying
