Flash Point: Fire Rescue
Get seven people out before the building comes down.
What it is
Players are firefighters in a burning building, spending action points to fight the flames, carry people out and move the emergency vehicles. Rescue seven of the ten victims to win, but lose four or let the building collapse and it is over. Kevin Lanzing designed it for Indie Boards & Cards in 2011. A good pick for families and friends who want a tense co-op with a plainly heroic theme.
What we love
- The fire spreads on its own, so plans rarely survive a full round
- An expert variant adds flashover, combustible materials and adjustable difficulty
- Rescue work makes a refreshing change from fighting a villain
Honest trade-offs
- Victims can die in the fire, which may upset younger or sensitive kids
- A bossy player can direct everyone's turns, as in most co-ops
- A bad spread of fire can end a game through no fault of yours
