Hoot Owl Hoot!
A team of small owls races the sunrise home.
What it is
Players work together to fly the owls home to the nest before the sun reaches the end of its track. Play a color card to move any owl to the next free space of that color, and jumping over other owls makes for a longer flight. Susan McKinley Ross designed it for Peaceable Kingdom in 2010. Perfect for children from four up who are ready for a first strategy game, where everyone wins or loses together.
What we love
- No reading, just matching colors
- Start with three owls and move up to six as kids improve
- Everyone is on one team, so no small player gets picked on
Honest trade-offs
- A parent can easily end up playing every turn
- Older kids will outgrow it quickly
AI summary of player sentiment
