Hues and Cues
Describe a color in one word, then watch your friends disagree about it.
What it is
One player picks a color from a board of 480 hues and gives a one-word clue, then a second clue of up to two words. Everyone else places cones on the squares they think it means, and closer guesses score more. Scott Brady designed it for The Op in 2020. A fun game for big groups, young readers and anyone who has ever argued about what counts as teal.
What we love
- The big color board draws people in before anyone explains a rule
- Very little reading, and no acting or bluffing to scare off shy guests
- Clue-givers score too, so a good clue pays both ways
Honest trade-offs
- Thin with three or four players, and crowded above eight
- May not work well for color-blind players
- The novelty fades with repeat plays by the same group
