· OUR TAKE ·

What it is

A family game for people who do not mind a little mischief. You are master builders in ancient Egypt, quarrying stone and loading it onto shared boats. Any player can sail any loaded boat, so your careful stack may land at a site you never chose. After six rounds, the most points wins.

What we love

  • One action a turn: quarry, load a stone, sail a boat or play a Market card
  • The order of stones on a boat decides the order they unload
  • Each site has an A and B side, which adds variety

Honest trade-offs

  • It can be meaner than it looks, as rivals send your stones to the wrong place
  • Scoring differs at each site, and some find that fiddly
