What it is

One player has to guess a secret word that everyone else can see. The others each write a one-word clue in private. The clue-givers compare notes, discard any duplicates, then show the guesser what is left. Hilarious when it works, honest about why it did not. Spiel des Jahres winner in 2019 for a reason.

What we love

  • Teaches in two minutes and plays with your in-laws
  • The duplicate-elimination rule is a tiny design miracle
  • Scales 3 to 7 with no loss of pacing

Honest trade-offs

  • The box says 8 and up, and some words will still stump younger kids
  • Three players is possible but five-plus is where the game sings
