Lanterns: The Harvest Festival
Float tiles on a palace lake, and hand your rivals a card every time you do.
What it is
Players place lake tiles, and the way each tile faces hands every player a lantern card, rivals included. You then turn in sets of cards for honor before the festival arrives. Christopher Chung designed it with art by Beth Sobel, and Renegade Game Studios released it in 2015. A good pick for couples and families who like a calm game with a small sting of tactics.
What we love
- Every tile you place also helps your opponents, so each turn is a small trade-off
- Oversized tiles and Beth Sobel's art make a handsome spread
- Three simple actions a turn keep it easy to learn
Honest trade-offs
- Thin on direct conflict if you want something meaner
- Dedication tokens lose value as the stacks shrink, so slow starters fall behind
