· OUR TAKE ·

What it is

Richard Borg's entry level wargame for two, or for two teams. Play a card to order units in a section, roll dice to fight, and first to the required medals wins. A good first wargame for families.

What we love

  • Section cards limit which flank you can order, so your hand shapes the battle.
  • Double sided terrain tiles change the map for each scenario.
  • Fans have made hundreds of scenarios on top of the official ones.

Honest trade-offs

  • It is best at two. Team play works, but the eight player Overlord setup needs two copies.
  • Dice decide a lot, and a good card can be undone by a bad roll.
  • The subject is real war, treated as a light tactical game.
