· OUR TAKE ·

What it is

A heavy euro for one to four players who like their turns tight and their rulebooks thick. In an alternate Saxony that found nuclear energy early, you build city districts, mines and turbines. Action tiles do double duty: play one for its two actions, or lay it on the board as railway that others can use too. We think it suits anyone who has worn out Brass and Barrage and wants a new knot to untie.

What we love

  • Action tiles work as actions or as shared railway
  • Four experiments change the strategy from game to game
  • Very little luck, with indirect competition through coal prices and rail use

Honest trade-offs

  • Expect 30 to 40 minutes of rules before the first turn
  • A big footprint and a slow setup
  • The theme fades once the numbers take over
