Ohanami
Draft two cards, grow three gardens, and plan for the last round on turn one.
What it is
A drafting game in a tiny box. Each round players pick two cards from a hand of ten, pass the rest, and grow up to three gardens. A card joins a garden only if it is higher than the top or lower than the bottom, so every gap costs options later. Twenty minutes, no turns, no downtime.
What we love
- Everyone drafts at once, so nobody waits for anybody
- Each round scores a different mix of colors, so plan for round three from the first pick
- Easy rules, but the discard-or-keep calls are tougher than they look
Honest trade-offs
- Gray cards are scarcer than the other colors, and the final round leans on them
- The pink scoring needs a table lookup, so keep the reference handy
AI summary of player sentiment
Across the tables we polled, players consistently praise the game's approachability and pacing. The most common complaint is gray cards are scarcer than the other colors, and the final round leans on them.
