· OUR TAKE ·

What it is

A co-op campaign that runs month by month through one story year. Win and you move on. Lose and you get one retry before the story moves on anyway. Cities fall, characters take scars and some cards get torn up for good, so it suits a regular group who can commit to between 12 and 24 games.

What we love

  • New rules and objectives arrive through the Legacy Deck, so the game keeps changing under you.
  • Stickers on the board, cards and rulebook make your copy unlike any other.
  • It builds on Pandemic's rules, so it is easy to start.

Honest trade-offs

  • You can only play the campaign once, because components are destroyed.
  • With setup and admin, a session can reach nearer an hour and 45 minutes.
  • The story involves disease, riots and fallen cities, which may feel close to home for some.
