Planet Unknown
Spin a lazy Susan of tiles and settle a new world at the same time as everyone else.
What it is
A fun game for 1 to 6 people, perfect for anyone who likes a chunky tile puzzle with no waiting. The first player spins a tower of tiles, and everyone takes one of two on offer at the same time. Icons on each tile move you along tracks for civilization, water, biomass, rovers and tech. The game ends when a pair of bins runs out or someone cannot place a tile.
What we love
- Picks are simultaneous, so a table of six keeps moving.
- Rovers roam your planet collecting life pods and meteorites.
- Five tracks give each tile more than one job.
Honest trade-offs
- Head-to-head goal cards can feel arbitrary, since tile drafting is hard to control.
- The asymmetric powers may send you looking for a rules answer.
- Slower thinkers can stretch it to 90 minutes.
