Quoridor
Race your pawn across the board while your opponent builds a maze in your way.
What it is
A classic race for families and anyone who likes a clean contest. Each turn you either step your pawn or drop a wall, and the first across the 9x9 board wins. Walls can slow a rival but can never close off the last path. It plays with two or four.
What we love
- One choice each turn: move or build
- Twenty walls are split evenly, so two players get ten each and four players get five
- Walls stay put once placed, so each one is a commitment
Honest trade-offs
- Three players is not recommended, so plan on two or four
- Once your walls are gone you can only walk, so timing matters
