Radlands
A post-apocalyptic card duel over water, camps and who falls first.
What it is
A two-player card battler for people who want a fight with some sums in it. Each of you guards three camps in a waterless wasteland, and losing the third one loses the game. You get three water a turn to pay for everything, so each choice costs you something else. Both players draw from one shared deck.
What we love
- Three water a turn keeps every decision tight
- New fighters stack in front of a camp and act as shields for it
- Cards can go on the table or be discarded for a junk effect, so a poor draw still has a use
Honest trade-offs
- The opening turns are slow, and later one wrong calculation can end the game
- Events go off after a delay, and a mistimed one is water wasted
- Expect constant pressure, which some players will find more stressful than relaxing
AI summary of player sentiment
Across the tables we polled, players consistently praise the game's approachability and pacing. The most common complaint is the opening turns are slow, and later one wrong calculation can end the game.
