Roll for the Galaxy
Roll a cup of workers, build a galactic empire, and keep your plans loose.
What it is
Race for the Galaxy with dice. Each round players roll a cup of worker dice, secretly assign them to phases, and every phase anybody picked fires for the whole table. Games run about 45 minutes, and the player aid is worth keeping open for the first one.
What we love
- Everyone plays at once, so downtime barely exists
- Dice double as workers and as goods, and credits buy them back, which makes every spend hurt in a good way
- Dozens of planet and development tiles keep each empire different
Honest trade-offs
- The icon-heavy tiles make the first game slow; plan an hour and a player aid
- A bad roll can wreck a tidy plan, so this game rewards flexibility over rigid builds
- Best at two to four; five players make the shared phases harder to read
