· OUR TAKE ·

What it is

A fast deckbuilder for two, perfect for anyone who likes the climb of Dominion but wants a direct fight. Each player starts with 50 Authority and ten weak ships, then buys stronger ships and bases from a five-card Trade Row. Ships leave after a turn, while bases stay until destroyed. Drive your opponent to zero Authority and you win, and much of the game comes down to which of the four factions you lean on.

What we love

  • Four factions that reward buying cards that work together
  • Bases stay in play, and outposts must be dealt with first
  • Multiplayer rules exist, but each extra one or two players needs another set

Honest trade-offs

  • The Trade Row is random, so luck can swing a game
  • Space combat with exploding ships, though no gore
  • One faction, the Machine Cult, worships technology as flavor
