Targi
Two desert tribes, one grid of cards and very little room to breathe.
What it is
A worker placement game made for two, and a good fit for couples who enjoy blocking each other. You place three figures around the edge of a 5x5 grid of cards, and where your lines cross in the middle you claim those center cards too. Goods buy tribe cards for a tableau of three rows of four. The game ends when the robber finishes his lap of the board or someone fills that tableau.
What we love
- Lines from your figures cross in the center, so each placement does two jobs
- The robber walks the edge and raids at every corner, taking goods, gold or points
- Rows of four matching or four different tribe cards score bonus points
Honest trade-offs
- Your opponent can block your placements, and strong plans often fall apart
- Each raid costs you something, so you need a reserve ready
- The random center display can spoil a plan, and it only works with two
