Time's Up!
One deck of famous names, played three times with fewer words each round.
What it is
A charades-style party game, perfect for groups who do not mind looking foolish. You play in teams, so four people make two teams of two, and the same deck of famous names comes back for three rounds. Round one allows almost any clue, round two a single word, and round three only sounds and pantomime. By the end, running jokes from earlier rounds do most of the work.
What we love
- Shared jokes build across the three rounds
- Turns last 30 seconds, so nobody waits long
- Rules for 3, 5 or 7 players drop the teams and play as individuals
Honest trade-offs
- Performing is the whole game, which can be hard on shy players
- You need to know the famous names, so mixed-age groups may struggle
- An hour or more makes it an event rather than a filler
