Tsuro
Lay a tile, follow your path, and try not to fall off the world.
What it is
Each turn you place one path tile, and your token follows the line wherever it leads. Stay on the 6x6 board longest and you win, but a rival's tile can steer you off the edge or into a collision. Tom McMurchie designed it, and WizKids released it in 2004 before Calliope Games took it on. Perfect for groups of up to eight who want one quick, tidy game.
What we love
- Explained in under a minute
- Eight players in about 20 minutes is rare
- The looping lines make a pleasant thing to look at
Honest trade-offs
- Players get knocked out, though games are too short for it to hurt much
- Late in a game, the luck of the tiles decides a lot
- The box copy nods to a spiritual path theme, but nothing in play depends on it
