Twilight Inscription
The Twilight Imperium galaxy as a roll-and-write, with four sheets and a lot to track.
What it is
A big roll-and-write for 1 to 8, perfect for anyone who wants the scope of Twilight Imperium in two hours rather than most of a day. Each player runs a faction across four sheets: Navigation, Expansion, Industry and Warfare. Event cards walk the group through five eras, and each strategy card has you spend icons and then roll dice on one chosen sheet. Mostly you build alone, with war turns against your neighbors and council votes pulling you back to the group.
What we love
- 24 factions with their own powers
- Four interlocking sheets, each scored at the end
- Seats up to eight, and works solo too
Honest trade-offs
- Long for a roll-and-write at 90 to 120 minutes
- Overall strategy is hard to see in early games
- Mostly solitaire, and eight players need a very large table
