Unmatched: Battle of Legends, Volume One
King Arthur, Alice, Medusa and Sinbad walk into a fight, each with a very different deck.
What it is
A fun game for 2 to 4 people, perfect for anyone who has ever argued about who would win in a fight. Each hero has a unique deck and a sidekick: Medusa has her Harpies, Alice the Jabberwock, Arthur has Merlin and Sinbad the Porter. You take two actions a turn from attack, scheme and maneuver. Fights are settled with face-down attack and defense cards, not dice.
What we love
- Each hero plays differently, so a new match-up feels like a new game.
- The double-sided board offers two maps, Marmoreal and Sarpedon.
- Positioning counts, since melee and ranged attacks work differently.
Honest trade-offs
- What you draw can swing a game, and one reviewer found it too luck-dependent at times.
- The box covers up to four, but the design is built around a one-on-one duel.
